Integrated Omics Analysis of Breast Cancer

We cordially invite to lecture of Prof. Vessela N. Kristensen (Department of Clinical Molecular Biology (EpiGen), Institute for Clinical Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Oslo, Oslo, Norway) on April, 6th 2018, 14:30, at Modrá posluchárna (UniMeC), alej Svobody 79, Plzeň.

Prof. Kristensen graduated in molecular biology at the Charles University’s Faculty of Science, and in 1996 she received her PhD title there. Since 1995 she has been working at the University of Oslo and Radiumhospital. In 2003 – 2005 she worked as Assistant Professor at the National Cancer Institute (NCI), USA and in 2012 as a Visiting Professor at Princeton University, USA. Since 2006 she has been serving as a professor at the University of Oslo Medical Faculty and Head of the Department of Clinical Molecular Biology (EpiGen). Prof. Kristensen’ expertize comprises study of molecular factors that contribute to the cancer development, progression and clinical manifestation, including therapy outcomes. She is particularly interested in breast carcinoma. She has vastly contributed to the study of genetic predisposition to cancer and roles of somatic variability and epigenetic factors such as methylation or microRNA in cancer. During her career prof. Kristensen has published 276 articles in peer-reviewed journals including monographs and review articles.

This year prof. Kristensen has become visiting professor at Charles University and was awarded the King Olav V’s Prize for Cancer Research, the most notable Norwegian prize for cancer research.
